How it began
The Oldies Funhouse began as a weekly 2-hour program which debuted on internet radio on January 1, 2012. It was hosted by yours truly, Michael Kendall Harris. The show featured “oldies” from the 40s to the 80s and beyond including: twin spins, comparison covers, thematic sets, audio dramas, comedy and novelty recordings, listener requests, games, and whatever other craziness I could come up with. It aired live nearly every Sunday for the next four and a half years. Since then, I have put the live show on hiatus, but it has continued to air in reruns on Sunday afternoons on our sister station, the VIP Lounge Stateside.
Recently, I approached Ian Francis, founder and CEO of the VIP Lounge in the United Kingdom about building an entire radio station around the Oldies Funhouse concept. He graciously agreed!
About the station.
I thought it would be neat to have a station that my listeners could tune into anytime that plays OUR kind of music, a mixture of what you might call oldies and pop standards.
The station will be mostly automated, but It will also be a place where broadcasters wishing to present oldies shows can occasionally hop on and hone their craft.
In addition, the VIP Lounge Oldies Funhouse Radio will be the new home of several popular syndicated programs.
Many of which have been long-time friends of the VIP Lounge.
Streaming of live events.
It has long been the goal of the VIP Lounge Radio Group to stream live events of interest to the blind. community events, Sports, concerts, conventions, weddings, funerals, and more.
We know that travel can be difficult for a number of reasons and so we want to use the miracle of internet streaming to allow our listeners to experience events as they happen.
Since Oldies Funhouse Radio doesn’t plan to have nearly as jam-packed a schedule as the VIP Lounge’s other radio channels, I am excited to announce that this station will be the home of these live streaming events.
Since the streams are automatically recorded, we are also able to rebroadcast them at different times so even more people can enjoy them.
This is a free public service that the VIP Lounge has graciously agreed to provide.

Michael Kendall Harris
